The priory is a substantial building, from the early 18th century with additions up to the middle of the 19th century with large, light spacious rooms.

We are located in the centre of the village of Gouvix, which fortunately escaped destruction during the fighting of 1944. Most of the old village is built from the local Caen limestone, and retains its rural charm and character.

The priory stands in a beautiful 2 acre orchard garden, which is almost entirely surrounded by 3 to 5 metre high limestone walls ensuring its total privacy.

The village has a general store and bar, and is 2 km from the small town of Bretteville sur Laize which has a good range of shops and a weekly market. Caen, with all the amenities of the largest town in the region is 10-15 minutes drive away.

Adjoining the priory is the exceptional church of Gouvix, partly Norman with an 18th century octagonal belltower.
